Building on its best-in-class capabilities, the focus for the new 2026 YZ450F is on maintaining an exceptional balance of power and handling while achieving a level of refinement that sets a new standard in its class: it’s now the easiest bike to ride faster and for longer periods.
A new frame design and reworked suspension enhance confidence and cornering performance. Updates to the renowned 450cc reversed cylinder four-stroke engine provide a more linear response for improved control and a greater sense of connection. Additionally, the new hydraulic clutch and the industry-leading Yamaha Power Tuner app ensure that the best just got even better!
Engine performance has improved with a redesigned intake port that enhances the tumble effect in the combustion chamber, leading to more efficient combustion. This results in a more linear response, providing better control and connection between the throttle and rear wheel.
A new frame design for 2026 balances rigidity and flex. A revised inner and outer structure with a thinner front downtube enhances ride stability and front-end feel for better cornering performance.

The 2026 YZ450F introduces an industry-first ECU lock function designed to deter theft. This feature allows owners to prevent unauthorized engine start-up through a password-protected lock, which can be accessed via the Yamaha Power Tuner app.
Careful computer-aided design of each wheel’s cross-sectional profile reduces weight without sacrificing durability. The rear wheel of the YZ450F features a three-cross spoke pattern for improved impact absorption and rider feel.
A new shock and fork settings improve damping feel and reduce bump response, allowing riders to push harder longer. It includes a hand-operated low-speed compression clicker for easier adjustments.
The optimized intake path draws air from beneath the side covers and seat, resulting in a lighter, slimmer, and more compact shroud area. The airbox cover is positioned low and is narrow, surrounded by the streamlined radiator shrouds.
The bike comes equipped with a 270-mm front brake rotor and a Nissin calliper, ensuring optimal braking performance. The rear brake has also been improved by reducing the rigidity of the brake hose, allowing for a wider range of control at the pedal.
Tri-shaft transmission layout vertically stacks the transmission shafts, raising the centre shaft and forming a triangle between the crank, drive shaft and main shaft for a lighter, more compact transmission.
Updated styling includes a slimmer, more compact front number plate, new two-piece side covers, sharper rear fender, and new YZ graphics, and a new honeycomb-pattern seat cover material maintains ease in rider sliding forward while improving hold from sliding rearward during acceleration.
