Its advanced DOHC four-stroke engine is light and compact, with world-renowned and incredibly broad pulling power across the entire rev range. It's precisely tuned aluminium bilateral beam frame balances strength and flex to optimise stability and cornering performance, delivering better handling with a lighter feel, greater agility, and increased traction, allowing the rider to enter corners with greater confidence and more line choices.
The YZ450F features a lightweight DOHC four-stroke engine with broad power across the rev range, thanks to its reversed cylinder head, forged aluminium piston, 39mm titanium valves, light crank assembly, and dry sump lubrication.
The precisely tuned aluminium bilateral beam frame balances strength and flex to optimise stability and cornering performance and deliver better handling with a lighter feel, more agility, and increased traction, allowing the rider to enter corners with greater confidence and more line choices.
Adding to rider comfort and ease of use is a hydraulic clutch for smooth, consistent engagement with less effort while eliminating the need for on-track adjustments. In addition, the clutch inner hub design lubricates over a larger area for more stable performance and longer life.
Yamaha’s free Power Tuner App enables owners to fine-tune air/fuel mixture and ignition timing for enhanced engine performance. It features a slide bar for real-time tuning, along with traction and launch control, a lap timer, and tuning guides. Users can also log race data and track maintenance.
An industry-first ECU lock function is adopted for theft deterrence, allowing owners to prevent unauthorised engine start-up via a password-required lock function accessed through the Yamaha Power Tuner app.
Careful computer-aided design of each wheel’s cross-sectional profile reduces weight without sacrificing durability. The rear wheel of the YZ450F features a three-cross spoke pattern for improved impact absorption and rider feel.
A new shock and fork settings improve damping feel and reduce bump response, allowing riders to push harder longer. It includes a hand-operated low-speed compression clicker for easier adjustments.
The optimized intake path draws air from beneath the side covers and seat, resulting in a lighter, slimmer, and more compact shroud area. The airbox cover is positioned low and is narrow, surrounded by the streamlined radiator shrouds.
The bike comes equipped with a 270-mm front brake rotor and a Nissin calliper, ensuring optimal braking performance. The rear brake has also been improved by reducing the rigidity of the brake hose, allowing for a wider range of control at the pedal.
Tri-shaft transmission layout vertically stacks the transmission shafts, raising the centre shaft and forming a triangle between the crank, drive shaft and main shaft for a lighter, more compact transmission.
