Assist & Slipper Clutch
By minimising the unsettling effects caused by high levels of back torque and excessive engine braking, this new A and S clutch gives improved control and gentler handling characteristics when downshifting aggressively.
Concealed 3-Into-1 Exhaust
The MT-09 is fitted with an integrated single-piece 3-into-1 exhaust system and short muffler featuring three internal expansion chambers.
Compact and Lightweight Liquid-Cooled CP3 Engine
The MT-09's all-new 3-cylinder engine has been developed to embody the essence of Yamaha's 'crossplane philosophy' which is designed to ensure instant throttle response together with strong low to mid-range torque.
Quick Shift System
This new mechanism is the same as the design featured on the multi award-winning YZF-R1, and features a sensor on the shift rod that momentarily cancels drive torque when an upshift is detected.
Traction Control System
For reduced rear tyre slippage and higher levels of controllability, the MT-09 is equipped with a Traction Control System featuring two different modes as well as an off switch.
