The 2026 Yamaha YZF-R9 combines finely tuned Supersport performance with rider-friendly accessibility, making it a new generation of performance street bike. Built on Yamaha's acclaimed CP3 engine, the R9 features a dedicated Supersport chassis and an extensive array of electronic rider aids, all wrapped in the striking next-generation R-Series design.
The R9 is crafted to boost the confidence of sport-oriented riders, catering to a wide spectrum of skill and experience levels, from casual street riders to seasoned track day professionals.
The YZF-R9 features an 890cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder engine with a unique ECU tune and optimized gear ratios, delivering thrilling supersport power with a street-friendly torque. Its tuned airbox enhances induction sound, combining with the CP3’s distinctive exhaust note for an exhilarating acceleration experience.
The YZF-R9 boasts Yamaha's lightest aluminium Deltabox frame in a supersport model, designed for smooth low-speed handling and rigid performance at track speeds. With fully adjustable KYB® suspension and nearly 50/50 weight distribution, it offers agile handling that boosts rider confidence across all experience levels.
The YZF-R9 features MotoGP®-inspired winglets for enhanced downforce and reduced drag. Its R-series design is Yamaha's most aerodynamic yet, with an optimized supersport riding position for excellent handling, comfortable clip-on reach, ample leg room, and a low seat height for versatile riding.
Premium Brembo® Stylema monoblock front brake calipers, paired with a Brembo® radial master cylinder and large 320mm dual front discs, deliver outstanding supersport-level braking performance, thanks to stainless steel brake lines and aggressive pad compounds.
The YZF-R9 includes a five-inch full-color TFT display with various vehicle data options. Riders can select from four street themes or a track theme, and the bike's electronic features are managed via integrated handlebar switches.
New KYB suspension units are introduced, featuring a 43mm USD front fork with a base valve and a rear shock with a new low-speed valve. The shock delivers linear damping for improved road holding and chassis stability.
The YZF-R9 includes Yamaha's updated handlebar switchgear for easy TFT display operation, featuring quick and self-cancelling turn signals, plus adjustable brake and clutch levers for an improved ride.
The advanced six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) draws on the YZF-R1 superbike's performance. It collects data alongside wheel speed sensors to support rider aids, including a nine-mode Traction Control System (TCS) and various Slide, Lift, and Brake Control Systems.
Riders can connect their smartphone to the new TFT display using Yamaha's Y-Connect app to receive notifications, make calls, and listen to music with an aftermarket Bluetooth® headset. The Garmin® StreetCross app provides full turn-by-turn navigation for easier journeys.
Road riders will appreciate convenient features such as cruise control and Yamaha's Variable Speed Limiter functions while track day enthusiasts will enjoy the Y-TRAC race settings complemented by a virtual pitboard feature that displays instructions and information from pit crew to rider in real-time.
The new YZF-R9 features R-series styling, signature M-shaped front duct, tail wing, angled LED lighting, and advanced aerodynamics, marking the evolution of Yamaha's R-series.
