Over the past decade, the MT-09 has established itself as a Yamaha icon, and now it introduces a new dimension to the Dark Side of Japan. The qualities that have made the MT-09 a leader in its class have been elevated with the introduction of Y-AMT. Experience a deeper connection with the MT-09 than ever before, focusing on its adrenaline-inducing acceleration and exceptionally precise handling.
The MT variant provides quicker and more consistent clutchless gear changes right at your fingertips through an intuitive and tactile see-saw switch. This allows the true performance of the MT-09 to be unleashed at its full sporty potential. Meanwhile, the AT variant simplifies shifting with a fully automatic transmission, offering two options to suit different riding scenarios.
The lightweight and powerful three-cylinder engine, which is liquid-cooled, provides high torque at low RPM. The unique roar of the CP3, resulting from the interplay of induction sound and exhaust note, enhances the acceleration experience. Furthermore, the sporty gear changes enabled by Y-AMT contribute to a heightened enjoyment of the CP3.
The compact CF die-cast aluminium frame design is a modern take on the iconic Deltabox layout, providing high chassis stiffness for excellent rider feedback and stability. The Y-AMT system adds less than 3 kg to the machine, making it one of the lightest on the market and maintaining the lightweight and sporty character of the MT-09.
The 5-inch TFT instruments offer four themes accessible via new handlebar switches. You can connect your smartphone using the Y-Connect app for message notifications, calls, music, and full map navigation through the Garmin StreetCross app.
The MT-09 Y-AMT is a versatile motorcycle for spirited sporty rides and relaxed city commutes. The fast and slick gearshifts enable hyper-focus on cornering, braking, and throttle application, while the D+ mode is tuned for more spirited riding and the D mode is convenient for city commuting.
The MT-09's exhilarating sound is amplified by specially designed air-intake ducts and an acoustic amplifier grille on the fuel tank, delivering the vibrant note of the CP3 engine directly to you.
The MT-09 is known for its agility, stability, and refined ergonomics, allowing greater freedom of movement for different riding styles. It features customizable handlebar positions, adjustable footrests, and a two-part seat for added freedom while riding.
To match the MT-09 Y-AMT’s high torque and acceleration, excellent stopping power is provided by a Brembo radial master cylinder, which produces a linear supply of pressure to the four-piston callipers, mounted to the dual 298mm front discs and offers outstanding braking performance with finger-tip control.
You can adjust Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) settings to customize your riding experience, including engine power characteristics and electronic intervention levels. Choose from SPORT, STREET, and RAIN modes, or create two custom programs. Adjust the settings on the dashboard or use the Y-Connect app on your smartphone.
