The downdraft intake layout and aligned intake and exhaust provide strong over-run and smooth low-rpm torque. A redesigned intake allows better airflow, boosting performance.
Quickly restarting an engine during a race can help maintain a lead. An electric start allows for easy engine restart with a button.
A hydraulic clutch provides direct feel and light lever action, with less play during use for consistency. Coned-disc springs allow for easier actuation and better control, especially when half-clutching.
A redesigned frame enhances the engine's intake and exhaust systems. It provides light handling and stability, improving cornering performance in various conditions.
Factory-style 49 mm inverted coil-spring front fork and New Uni Trak rear suspension provide race-ready performance and adjustability for riders. Optimized spring rates and damping settings enhance feedback on tough trails.
Brake components feature drilled Braking/Sunstar discs with a Brembo caliper and master cylinder in the front, and a Nissin setup in the rear, improving control.
Already highly acclaimed for their slim ergonomics, the KX450X receives redesigned bodywork that offers an even smoother rider interface. Newly designed shrouds, side covers, and rear fender are firmer and eliminate hooking points, further facilitating rider movement.
Medium-compound ODI Lock-On Grips offer excellent grip feel, while their screw-type fastening system greatly facilitates the task of swapping grips.
Removing the left side cover is tool-free, allowing easy access to the air filter element, which is now secured with quick-release hooks instead of a wing bolt. This simplifies air filter changes, benefiting enduro and cross-country racers.
The KX450 features F21”/R19” aluminium rims, while the KX450X uses a F21”/R18” setup that enhances traction. It is equipped with Dunlop AT81 enduro-type tyres, which are ideal for cross-country riding conditions.
The convenient side stand comes in handy when stopping away from the paddock area.
The Power Mode selection button, a novel feature for Kawasaki KX models, replaces the DFI couplers from earlier versions. Riders can conveniently toggle between two engine maps (Normal, Mild response) using the Mode (M) button on the left handlebar, as specified in the ECU.
Riders can use the Traction (T) button on the left handlebar to select between two traction control levels (Weak or Strong) or turn the system off altogether, allowing for customization based on conditions and personal preference.
Factory-style launch control system increases the chance of getting a good start by helping riders maximise traction when starting on a low-traction surface.
Using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX,” riders are able to access and adjust their bike’s engine maps. Functionality (adjusting fuel and ignition timing) is similar to that offered by the accessory KX FI Calibration Kit used with previous models. Maintenance and setup logs are also available.
