Featuring a high-spec piston, aggressive cam profiles and forward-positioned intake cylinder head layout, the YZ250F's advanced four-stroke engine is known for its broad, useable powerband and class-leading low-end and mid-range torque.
The aluminium bilateral beam frame is based on the flagship YZ450F and provides just the right amount of strength and flex for the perfect balance of stability and cornering performance. The result is a superb handling machine with a lightweight feel and increased front wheel traction, allowing the rider to enter corners with greater confidence and more line choices.
The YZ250F's liquid-cooled, DOHC 4-valve, fuel-injected powerplant features a forward-positioned straight downdraft intake with symmetrical intake ports, high-spec piston and aggressive cam profiles. Yamaha's Power Tuner App is a free and user-friendly tool that helps riders adjust their engine performance, traction, and launch control from their smartphone. It also includes a lap timer and helpful tuning guides.
The KYB suspension has been updated with a new rear linkage, settings front and rear, a revised rear shock lever ratio for added traction and stability, a lighter spring rate for the rear shock, and new delta-shaped piston shims in the fork. Additionally, the front fork now features tool-free compression clickers for easy adjustment.
The optimised intake path draws air from under the side covers and seat allowing for a compact body design. This profile allows radiator shrouds to be slim with the airbox cover to be low and narrow. The efficient intake path also boosts mid- to high-rpm engine performance.
The Traction Control System communicates wheel slip to the ECU and adjusts the engine to maintain ideal rear wheel traction. It offers three levels: HIGH, LOW or OFF. The Launch Control System features an adjustable rpm limiter between 6,000 rpm and 14,000 rpm for optimized launches. Both systems are controlled through the Yamaha Power Tuner App.
Switch between two engine maps with a handlebar-mounted button, easily adjusting to track or weather changes. Maps are preloaded and configured in the Power Tuner App.
The cross-sectional profile of each wheel has been carefully refined using computer technology to reduce weight while maintaining durability. The rear wheel features a distinctive three-cross-spoke pattern that enhances impact absorption and the overall riding experience.
