A NEW KIND OF KX: KX250-BASED CROSS-COUNTRY RACER
FACTORY-STYLE ENGINE COMPONENTS AND TUNING
Strong fuel-injected 249 cm³ liquid-cooled, 4-stroke KX250 Single features finger-follower valve actuation, dual-injector, and down-stroke intake to provide hard-hitting performance complemented by a powerful low-midrange range. Engine maps designed for the X-scene provide a wide range of available power and promote minute throttle control.
FINGER-FOLLOWER VALVE ACTUATION
Like the KX450 and KX250, the KX250X features a valve train engineered by Kawasaki World Superbike engineers. Finger-follower valve actuation allows the use of broad diameter valves and rough cam profiles.
HIGH PERFORMANCE PISTON
High-speed piston, of the same configuration used by our factory racers, leads to a good output at all rpm. A short skirt, strengthened external ribs and the use of a bridged-box bottom, with internal bracing, lead to a compact, solid piston construction. Dry film lubricant coating on piston skirts decreases friction at low rpm and assists with piston bedding.
Like the KX450, the hydraulic clutch delivers simple feel and gentle lever action. Less play as the clutch heats up during heavy use results in a more consistent feel. The use of coned-disk springs leads to a smoother actuation of the clutch as the lever is pulled in and a broader variety of grips enables control.
ELECTRIC START & BATTERY
Being able to easily restart the engine during the sprint will be the difference between holding the lead or trying to fight the way back into the pack. Electric start makes restarting the engine as quick as pressing a button.
The well-balanced KX250 frame adds to the compact weight, compact handling and streamlined ergonomics of the KX250X. The slim aluminum perimeter frame is a lightweight structure made of forged, extruded and cast sections. The overall stiffness mix was designed to provide both light handling and outstanding traction.
X WHEELS AND TYRES
While the KX250 features F21"/R19 "aluminum rims, the KX250X uses an F21"/R18" combination that makes it easier to ground the KX250X 's strength. The Dunlop AT81 enduro-type tyres compliment the X-specific wheels and are well suited for cross country riding scenarios.
CROSS COUNTRY EQUIPMENT
A powerful skid plate helps shield the underside of the engine, allowing it easier to roll over obstacles found on the road. A convenient side stand comes useful when standing away from the paddock field.
STRONG BRAKING PERFORMANCE
The KX450 front master cylinder and petal disc brakes are among the various factory-style components of the KX250X. Both sporty features and a high-quality presentation lead to the trendy discs.
Factory-style ø28.6 mm (1-1/8”) Renthal aluminium Fatbar, a popular aftermarket part, is now a standard feature. The thicker handlebar helps reduce vibration and shocks transmitted to the rider, while the new grip position (19 mm lower, 8 mm 10 closer) helps put the rider in a position that makes it easier to weight the front wheel.
KX FAMILY STYLING
Complementing the stylish bodywork of KX250X, KX 's factory-style graphics ensure that it is the sharpest bike in the paddock and further reflects the high potential of its KX-based results. Coloured highlights on suspension adjusters and engine oil cap and generator cover plugs add to a distinctive Kawasaki look while enhancing the KX family portrait.
THE HOLESHOT ADVANTAGE
The KX250X features a launch control system similar to that on our AMA factory motocross racers. With the simple press of a button, riders can activate a separate engine map designed to ensure efficient race starts in low-traction conditions. (The Launch Control Mode map retards ignition timing, allowing tyres to gain grip, and allowing riders to focus on their lines.)
EASY ENGINE TUNING: DFI SETTING DATA SELECTION (3 MAP CHOICES)
Plug-and-play style system is quick, easy and stress-free. Instead of a single engine map, the ECU features three (four, counting the Launch Control Mode maps). Initial settings for the three maps are: Standard, Hard and Soft conditions. FI couplers, enables riders to easily switch between the three maps to suit riding conditions. Each of the three maps can be reprogrammed using the optional accessory - KX FI Calibration Kit.
PRECISION ENGINE TUNING
The available KX FI Calibration Package includes a portable KX FI Calibration Tool, which allows riders to change engine characteristics (by updating existing data maps) to suit their tastes. This handy method can be used without a Computer, simply by plugging in the ECU of the motor.
