Which Yamaha Sport Heritage motorcycle is best for me?
For LAMS riders, the Yamaha XSR700 represents a retro styled package that seems almost too good to be true. A characterful 655cc inline twin with crossplane technology sounds incredible while delivering a linear torque surge you’ll never tire of. Link-type monocross rear suspension is mated to a short swingarm for enhanced acceleration feel. There’s old skool cool in details everywhere, right down to the circular LED instrument panel. Slim styling and a heritage-styled colour scheme top off a bike you’ll love looking at and revel in riding.
Squint and you could easily mistake the new Yamaha XSR900 for the seventies legend XS1. Gorgeously styled, it’s also a bike that packs a punch, earning the ‘R’ in its name through a 3-cylinder, 847cc powerplant borrowed from its cousin, the MT-09. Big on power, there’s finesse provided by 3-mode traction control, D-MODE engine mapping and a Slip and Assist clutch for seamless downshifts. There’s adjustable suspension, too, and dozens of heritage touches from headlamp styling to seat stitching, aluminium sidecovers and fenders.
Bobber style comes alive with the Yamaha Bolt R-Spec, a super cool cafe look with the thump of a 942cc air cooled v-twin engine. Clip-on style handlebars keep the profile low, while plush forks and piggyback rear shocks serve up endless cruising comfort with agile handling. Wave brake rotors bring safe, modern stopping to the party and there’s even more modern appeal in touches like an LCD display built into a neat round instrument shell.
