The YZF-R7 serves as a middle ground between the entry-level YZF-R3 and the high-end YZF-R9. It provides a mid-level option for new riders aiming to transition to a more powerful motorcycle, as well as for experienced riders in search of a fully-faired motorcycle with high-performance capabilities that fit into their budget. The R7 maintains the R-Series DNA and upholds the lineup’s legacy of racing success through its unique combination of performance, price, and sporty styling.
The YZF-R7 offers proven power, a narrow chassis, and next-generation R World styling. It features a 689cc CP2 engine, a lightweight frame with excellent aerodynamics, an inverted front fork for a superior front-end feel, and a racing-inspired cockpit with a supersport rider position.
The HO model can be equipped with an optional Quick Shift System (QSS) for smooth upshifts.
The YZF-R7 features Yamaha’s liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line two-cylinder CP2 engine, which provides a direct throttle-to-rear-wheel connection. Its forged aluminium pistons, direct-plated cylinders, and 270-degree crank deliver torquey acceleration and linear power delivery for outstanding response at all engine speeds.
The YZF-R7 has an inverted KYB 41mm front fork with fully adjustable settings and a linked-type Monocross shock for a balance between comfort and performance.
The YZF-R7 features an ultra-narrow, high-strength steel frame for a sporty and responsive ride. It has been optimized for superb handling and reduces air resistance.
The YZF-R7 is the first Yamaha model to feature a radial brake master cylinder from Brembo. This Brembo radial master cylinder provides a more linear supply of hydraulic pressure to the radial-mounted, four-pot front brake calipers creating excellent controllability and stopping power through dual 298mm front brake rotors.
The YZF-R7’s racing-inspired cockpit puts the rider in a comfortable and confidence-inspiring position, with a comfortable seat and low-profile fuel tank cover for freedom of movement. Separate clip-on handlebars provide an aggressive riding stance for confident gripping.
The YZF-R7 features a full LCD instrument panel with a high-contrast negative dashboard and compact multifunction display. Spot colour accentuates the high-rpm range display, and new handlebar switches make it easier for the rider to operate the metre.
The YZF-R7 features an iconic M-shaped intake duct, adaptive bi-functional LED headlight, LED taillight, and front and rear turn signals. The LED lighting is light, compact, and provides long-lasting illumination for enhanced visibility day or night.
