The KLX230R S has an updated engine with increased low- to mid-range torque for better low-speed control and linear acceleration. These improvements make the play bike more fun for riders.

An ideal suspension provides ample wheel travel at the front and rear, while large-diameter aluminium wheels measuring 21" at the front and 18" at the rear efficiently navigate trails—a combination that greatly contributes to trail-riding performance.

A 7.6 litre fuel tank (up from 6.6 litres on the previous model) increases range and allows for longer intervals between refuelling, resulting in more fun riding time. In addition, the fuel tank has a key-operated tank cap.

The handlebar and footpeg positions were also changed, with the handlebar moving 25 mm forward and 13 mm higher, and the footpegs moving 9 mm rearward. The new handle position allows for easier rider inputs into the bars, while the increased controllability boosts confidence when cornering.

The high-tensile steel perimeter frame, which was originally designed for dirt-riding use, provides the handling stability required for confident trail riding. For 2025, a newly designed rear subframe allows for long wheel travel while lowering seat height.

The KLX230R S's seat height is 25 mm lower than its predecessor's (875 mm vs. 900 mm), making the machine easier to handle and increasing confidence when riding off-road, making it suitable for a wider range of riders.

The mono-tone high seat features thicker urethane (+14 mm vs. the low seat) and a wider shape for enhanced comfort. Its flat silhouette allows for freedom of movement, making it ideal for off-road riding.

The new KLX230R S is styled after Kawasaki's KX motocross racers, featuring a sleek design with race-inspired colours and graphics. The flat bodywork creates a unified and sharp appearance, with minimal protruding parts for improved ergonomics. Black alumite rims add to the sporty character of the off-road machine.
