Bought these to replace my previous generation R2’s which got damaged in a crash. Went for a size down in the R3 based on some internet reviews. Was the right way to go as the stretch panelling on the fingers and back of the hand give these gloves way more movement with a snug fit. Top quality track day gloves at a reasonable price.

Gloves were a bit tight to start with, barely bigger than my previous pair of a smaller size which were too small. But they are settling in to the shape of my hands and I expect that very soon they will fit like , well, you know, a glove.

Good glove, really comfortable but let down by the thumb stitching on one glove. Should be externally stitched like the fingers. Stitch digs in when using the indicator. For the price they should be perfect. Still much better than others Ive tried

I'm coming from my previously favourite Knox Handroid (full gauntlet), however the only reason I was actually forced to try another glove is due to me owning the original MK1 and after 10 years they finally gave up the ghost and their new MK4 model had weird fitment (as other reviewers have mentioned) so until they get that sorted, trying something else. So here I am with the Alpinestars GP Pro R3's. Pros : Great feedback, once you actually get used to these it's like almost riding with nothing at all (but that was the same with my Knox to be fair), a lot of gloves you can't say this about but these ring true. Protection on these things is impressive (but only in some ways, I'll get more to that in that below) in the fact that they got rated Europe's best impact protection. That's great for a low side. Onto the negatives now..... price. Now for a glove of this price and grade.... (top of the line race glove from AP) I honestly wouldn't expect to have any negatives, however unfortunately there is couple of huge ones. These gloves are fine (actually very good) if you go down low side on the track.... however if you come off high side, which everyone knows does more damage, they are lacking in areas that other glove manufacturers have and just baffles me as to why AP have not included this, especially as other makers have them in their cheaper gloves to boot! Scaphoid protection, just isn't even here. On the road (as a lot of people buy the top of the range gloves to ride not just on the track but to have the best road protection, myself included) you hit a similar situation as to coming off the bike high side on the track. Not having scaphoid protection is just unforgivable here. As mentioned even cheaper gloves have include it from Knox to cover their bases putting a knox scaphoid slider in there for protection instead of breaking and possibly losing the function of your thumb due to it. No Radius protection (Ulnar only) is just again, a *** for the same reason as stated above for them missing Scaphoid protection. It is honestly like they have gone, okay most accidents on the track happen like this, we'll go with this and this only and disregard any and all other accident types and conditions. For a glove of this price range this (and their supposedly top of the line glove) is unforgiveable, because it seems like it would have been done purely for cost saving as there is no other reason to do this and to jeopardise people's safety. Overall I am disappointed with the gloves. I would look at other brands in the future unless AP fix these daunting issues.
